A haircut at Hanna Madison Salon is shaped to your face, your texture, and how much time you actually spend on your hair in the morning. Every cut starts with a conversation about your routine, not just the length. A shape that only works when it is professionally styled is a shape that has failed.
How we approach a cut
Two people can ask for the same length and need two different cuts. Density, growth pattern, cowlicks, curl, and face shape all change where weight should sit. We look at your hair dry before we start, because dry hair tells the truth about how it actually falls.
Your appointment includes:
- A consultation that covers your routine, your tools, and how much time you want to spend.
- A dry assessment of your growth pattern and texture.
- The cut, sectioned to your head shape rather than a standard pattern.
- A style, plus a short honest lesson on recreating it yourself.
Who it suits
Precision cutting suits anyone whose hair has stopped behaving, anyone growing out a previous shape, and anyone who wants a style that holds between appointments. It also suits people who have been told their hair is difficult. Usually the hair is fine and the shape was fighting it.
Curly and wavy hair gets cut with its pattern in mind. If you wear your hair curly, come in with it curly so we can see what it does on its own.
How long to plan for
A cut and style is one of the shorter appointments on the menu. Add time if you are making a significant length change or combining it with color, which most guests do. The front desk will book the right amount of time when you tell them what you are after.
Making it last
- Come back before the shape collapses, not after. Most cuts hold six to ten weeks depending on length.
- Short shapes need trimming sooner than long ones, because the outline is what carries the style.
- Growing it out is still a cut. Regular shaping is what keeps a grow out from looking neglected.
- Use the tools your stylist recommends. A shape built around a round brush needs a round brush.

Common questions
How often should I get a haircut?
Most guests are on a six to ten week rhythm. Shorter shapes need it sooner because the outline carries the style. If you are growing your hair out, regular shaping still matters and actually speeds the process by keeping the ends from splitting further up.
Should I come with my hair washed or unwashed?
Come with it in its normal state, styled the way you usually wear it. That shows us how it really behaves. A fresh wash the morning of hides your growth pattern, which is exactly what we need to see.
Do you cut curly hair?
Yes. Come in with your curls as you normally wear them, not straightened, so we can see the pattern and where the weight needs to sit. Curl shrinks as it dries, and cutting it wet without accounting for that is how people end up shorter than they asked for.
Can I bring a photo?
Please do, and bring one of what you do not want as well. A photo tells us more in ten seconds than a description does in five minutes. Your stylist will be honest about how close your hair can get to it.
Can you fix a cut from somewhere else?
Often yes. Depending on what happened we may reshape now, or set a plan across two appointments so we are not removing more length than necessary. Come in and let us look before you decide anything drastic.
