Bridal hair and makeup at Hanna Madison Salon starts with a trial, booked well before the wedding. The trial is the whole point: it is where you find out how a look wears in daylight and in photographs, while there is still time to change it. We take bridal bookings for the wedding party as well as the bride, in Columbus, GA.
Why the trial matters more than the day
A look that photographs beautifully can feel like too much in the mirror, and a look that feels right in the chair can disappear entirely under a camera flash. The only way to know which is happening is to see it on you, in the light you will actually be in, with time to react.
A trial covers:
- The look itself, built with your dress, veil, and hair length in mind.
- How it holds. We want to see it several hours in, not just when it is finished.
- Photographs, taken on your phone in daylight and indoors, because that is where the surprises turn up.
- Timing. Your stylist works out how long the real thing takes, which is what the morning schedule is built from.
Bring your veil or hair accessories if you have them, and a photo of your dress neckline. Both change what suits.
When to book
Book the trial early, and the wedding date earlier still. Saturday mornings in wedding season fill first, and a bridal party booking takes several stylists out of the regular schedule for a morning, so those dates get held well in advance.
If your date is close, call rather than booking online. The front desk will tell you honestly what is still available at 706-604-1862.
Booking the wedding party
Tell us two numbers when you enquire: your headcount, and the time you need to be finished. Everything else is built backward from those. A party of eight with a nine in the morning finish is a very different booking from a party of three finishing at noon, and the difference decides how many stylists we need to hold.
Let us know as well who is having hair, who is having makeup, and who is having both, since that changes the running order.
Hair and makeup together
Madison, one of our owners, has been doing hair and makeup for special events since she was a teenager, long before it became her career. Booking both together is usually the smoother option, because the running order matters. Hair generally goes first, and the base is applied with the wedding lighting in mind. Planning the months before
- Get color settled well ahead, not the week of. See custom color or highlights and balayage.
- If you are considering extensions, book that consultation early. Extensions need an install and at least one move up before the date.
- Book facial waxing a few days before the wedding, never the morning of, so any redness settles.
- A smoothing treatment can be worth it for a humid outdoor date, but schedule it weeks ahead so the result settles.

Trial pricing is listed on the Service Menu, our single source for numbers. Day of and wedding party pricing is quoted once we know your headcount and timings, because those decide how many stylists the morning needs.
Common questions
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can for the date itself, particularly for a Saturday in wedding season, and a trial a comfortable stretch before the wedding so there is room to adjust. If your date is soon, call the front desk rather than booking online and they will tell you what is genuinely open.
Do I really need a trial?
We strongly recommend one. It is the only way to see how a look photographs and how it holds over several hours, while there is still time to change direction. Going straight to the day means finding out on the morning.
Can you do my whole wedding party?
Yes. Give us your headcount and your finish time when you enquire, plus who is having hair, makeup, or both. The morning schedule is built backward from when you need to be done, so those details come first.
What should I bring to the trial?
Your veil and any hair accessories, a photo of your dress neckline, and photos of looks you like and dislike. Come with clean, dry, unstyled hair. If you are wearing a particular lip color on the day, bring it.
Can you travel to my venue?
Ask the front desk when you enquire. Availability for on location work depends on the date and the size of the booking, so we would rather give you a straight answer for your specific day than a general policy here.
What if I change my mind after the trial?
That is what the trial is for, and it happens often. Tell your stylist what did not feel right. Adjusting after a trial is normal and far better than discovering it on the morning.
